Jordan Henderson Hospitalized After England's Win Over Mexico

England's dramatic 3-2 victory over Mexico in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup on Monday morning (July 6, 2026) WIB ended in a serious incident. Midfielder Jordan Henderson suffered a wrist injury and was rushed to hospital after the match.

England manager Thomas Tuchel revealed that the atmosphere in his team's dressing room was filled with mixed emotions. On the one hand, he was proud that England had advanced to the quarter-finals.

However, Henderson's injury made the victory feel less than perfect. Henderson didn't play in the match at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, sitting on the bench.

"This is a very special night for us. I have mixed feelings because I'm very tired and emotional, but also sad because Jordan has an injury. He injured his wrist and is currently in the hospital," Tuchel said in a press conference, as reported by the BBC, Monday (July 6, 2026).

The German coach admitted he was not yet certain about Henderson's condition or the treatment procedures he would undergo. The information he had received so far indicated that the player's injury was quite serious.

"The injury looks quite serious and it doesn't fit with the atmosphere tonight because Jordan isn't with us right now. I don't know what the procedure is yet. I just finished the press conference and the doctor told me he's in the hospital," said Tuchel.

Henderson suffered the injury after falling through a pitchside billboard. He was then removed on a stretcher before being taken to the hospital for further examination.

Tuchel reiterated that Henderson's condition was the coaching team's primary concern after the match.

"The situation is not good. We already lost a defender to a red card, and then Jordan fell and injured his wrist. It looks really bad," said Tuchel.

England captain Harry Kane hopes his teammate's injury isn't too serious.

"Jordan fell over there (on the side of the pitch where the England national team celebrated their victory). I hope he's okay, it's just a problem with his arm," said Kane.
