World Father's Day June 15, 2025

Every year, World Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. This year, it falls on June 15, a special occasion for children around the world to show their love and gratitude to the man who has been their protector, guide, and best friend-father.

Unlike Mother's Day, which is often celebrated with more fanfare, Father's Day often feels more quiet. In fact, a father's contribution to a child's life journey is no less important. He may not be a man of many words, but he is there-in his meaningful silence.

Fathers are not just breadwinners or decision-makers in the household. In the course of a child's development, fathers are often the first role model, a figure to be emulated in terms of values, courage and integrity.

"Dad, you are the first person I go to when I have a question or need advice. Thank you for always answering," wrote one of the many Father's Day messages shared online, quoted from the NDTV page.

For some people, the role of father doesn't even always come from a biological figure. Some get support from uncles, grandfathers, stepfathers, or other adult male figures who are always present when needed.

“Thank you for being the rock of our family and always putting us first,” wrote one touching greeting, describing the presence of fathers as the main foundation in the household.

Every family has their own way of commemorating Father's Day. Some give gifts, cook dad's favorite food, or just spend time together while chatting.

For others, this day is a moment to send simple messages that touch the heart, such as:

"Happy Father's Day to the coolest dad in the world! Don't worry, we agree with you... most of the time."

"Dad, you're not only my dad, but also my hero. I love you so much!"

"Have a great Father's Day to the man who has always been my biggest cheerleader. Love you, Dad!"

Words may sound simple, but they often have a big impact on fathers - who are often better at bottling up than expressing their feelings.

Father's Day is not just a celebration, but also a reminder that the role of fathers is important to be appreciated. In an era that increasingly demands equality in parenting roles, fathers are also increasingly involved in domestic and emotional matters, from changing diapers to attending children's school events.

Unfortunately, this role often goes unnoticed. In fact, according to various studies, the active presence of a father has a significant impact on children's emotional and social development, including self-confidence, emotional stability, and relationship skills.

If your relationship with your dad has felt stilted or distant, Father's Day can be a time to start improving your communication. It doesn't have to be a long sentence - just send a message, invite a meal together, or say “Thank you, Dad.”

And for those who have lost their father, this day can be a moment to remember the values he has instilled. That even though his body is gone, his legacy of love lives on in the hearts and actions of his children.

World Father's Day is not just about gifts and sweet words. It is a time to realize that behind all the roles of fathers - who are often silent, but always there - there is a love that is no less great than that of mothers. So this June 15, take the time to say something honest from the heart: Thank you, Dad. Because without you, I wouldn't be who I am today.
