The Oklahoma City Thunder secured their spot as the 2024-25 NBA champions after defeating the Indiana Pacers 103-91 in the seventh game of this season's finals. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his teammates won the series 4-3.

Playing at Paycom Arena, the game started off tightly contested. Despite the Pacers losing Tyrese Haliburton to an Achilles injury in the first quarter, OKC only led 25-22.

In the second quarter, the Pacers responded with a 26-22 lead, closing the first half with a narrow 48-47 advantage. However, OKC rallied to pull away from the Pacers in the third quarter.

They scored 34 points and only allowed the Pacers 20 points, widening the gap between the two teams to 13 points with OKC leading 81-68. In the final quarter, the Pacers were unable to catch up.

Shai scored a three-pointer after assisting Cason Wallace to change the score to 86-68. Jalen Williams also scored three points, followed by a free throw from Chet Holmgren, bringing the score to 90-68.

A two-point shot and a free throw from Pascal Siakam, along with four free throws from Bennedict Mathurin, briefly narrowed the gap to 75-90, but a free throw from Luguentz Dort gave OKC a 91-75 lead.

Mathurin then scored four consecutive points to change the score to 79-91, but Shai's free throw brought OKC back to 93-79. The score changed to 81-93 after Mathurin added two points via a free throw.

With less than 90 seconds remaining, OKC led 100-87. A free throw by Williams and two free throws by Holmgren then extended the score to 103-87. Mathurin added four points via a layup and a free throw, but that was the end of the Pacers' fight.

The final score was 103-91. Shai was the star of the game, contributing 29 points for OKC, followed by Williams with 20 points. Holmgren scored 18 points, while Alex Caruso and Cason Wallace each added 10 points. The rest scored under double digits.

Meanwhile, for the Pacers, Mathurin contributed 24 points, the most among his teammates. TJ McConnell and Siakam each scored 16 points, followed by Andrew Nembhard with 15 points. The rest did not reach double digits.

OKC secured their first championship since relocating and rebranding from the Seattle SuperSonics in 2008. In total, this marks the franchise's second NBA title, following their first in 1979.
