Calls of 'Death to the IDF' echo at Glastonbury Music Festival

The Glastonbury music festival in England was in the spotlight on Saturday (June 28, 2025) after London-based rap group Bob Vylan led chants of "Death to the IDF" amid growing support for Palestine from festivalgoers. The chant, which refers to the Israeli military, was repeated several times by Bob Vylan during their performance on the main stage.

Reported by Middle East Eye on Sunday (May 29, 2025), many audience members were seen waving Palestinian flags and chanting the slogan in protest against Israeli aggression in Gaza. The controversial performance took place shortly before the Northern Irish hip-hop group Kneecap took to the stage. The group is known for its vocal support of Palestinian rights and has been the subject of political scrutiny in the UK.

The BBC broadcast Bob Vylan's performance live without censorship, including the controversial part. However, the BBC later blocked the live broadcast of Kneecap's performance, citing editorial guidelines.

Bob Vylan, consisting of vocalist/guitarist Bobby Vylan and drummer Bobbie Vylan, is known for their blend of punk, grime, and hip-hop music, as well as lyrics that often address social issues such as racism, mental health, and gentrification within the Black British community.
